The Colt Medium Lightning is a used rifle made in 1900 and chambered in .38-40, with a 25.5-inch barrel. The supplier lists the gun in excellent condition, with about 95 percent of the original blue on the barrel and about 70 percent on the frame. The wood is very good, and the wrist has been checkered in the same style as the factory forearm. The stock was refinished at the time of checkering, and the listing notes no sign of sanding or cleaning.
Missouri's firearms deer portions allow centerfire rifles, and .38-40 is a centerfire cartridge. For 2026-27 the November firearms portion runs Nov. 14-24, and the late antlerless portion runs Dec. 5-13. Because the rifle dates to 1900, it suits a collector who wants an original antique rifle. Confirm the MDC rules for any use in the field before you hunt with it.
