The Taurus 856 Defender is a compact six-shot revolver chambered in .38 Special +P. Its steel frame and matte black finish provide a durable carry configuration, while the two-inch barrel keeps the revolver suited to concealed carry, home defense, and range use. The exposed hammer supports double-action or single-action operation, allowing a deliberate single-action trigger press or a faster double-action pull. Walnut grips provide a classic appearance and a secure, comfortable hold. A ramp front sight and fixed rear sight offer a straightforward aiming system, and the transfer bar helps prevent unintended discharge when the revolver is handled properly.
