Show-Me State buyers have a new CZ to look at this fall. The DUTY 4.0 is a striker-fired 9x19mm with a serialized internal chassis, a fiberglass-reinforced polymer frame and a direct-mount optics-ready slide with fixed sights. The 4-inch barrel is not threaded, overall length is 7.4 inches, and the SFDA trigger comes in at 5.6 pounds with a 4 mm reset and 9 mm of travel.

Buyers on the Kansas City side, in Liberty and St. Joseph, tend to ask for a carry gun, and the C compact at 15+1, 770 g and 135 mm tall fits that. Around St. Louis, Chesterfield and St. Charles, and in Columbia and Jefferson City, home defense comes up more, and the F full-size at 17+1 is the better nightstand pistol. Add MS to either and you get a manual thumb safety. All four carry a $729 MSRP, and with the extended base plate the C goes to 17+1 and the F to 19+1.

Three things define the DUTY 4.0. First, a registered modular chassis: the registered part is inside, the polymer grip around it is modular. Second, the trigger, a striker SFDA rated at 25 ± 4 N (5.6 ± 0.9 lbs), 4 mm (0.16 in) reset, 9 ± 1 mm (0.4 ± 0.04 in) travel, which is short and repeatable for a service pistol. Third, a direct-mount optics-ready slide, shown by CZ with Holosun, Aimpoint and Shield dots fitted, so a red dot sits low without a stack of plates.

The C is the carry-size frame. It stands 135 mm (5.3 in) tall, weighs 770 g (27.2 oz) with an empty magazine and carries 15+1 rounds of 9mm, or 17+1 once the extended base plate is fitted. Short enough to hide under a shirt, long enough to get every finger on the grip.

The MS model carries a frame-mounted external safety on top of the firing pin block, trigger safety and trigger-bar safety. Everything else, chassis, trigger, slide and optics cut, is the same as the version without the lever.

Best fit: daily carry, a nightstand gun that also rides along, and new owners who want one pistol for everything. Shooters coming from a CZ 75 will recognize the grip angle; owners coming from any other striker gun will notice the trigger first.

Choose your model and name the Missouri dealer you want it shipped to. Missouri has no purchase permit and no waiting period; your dealer runs the NICS check at pickup and you take the pistol home once it clears. Ammo, optics and parts ship to your door. Price and stock are checked live when you order and before you pay.

Questions buyers ask: Is there a waiting period on handguns in Missouri? No. Missouri has no purchase permit and no waiting period; your dealer runs the NICS check when you collect. What do the extended base plates add? Two rounds. The C goes from 15+1 to 17+1 and the F from 17+1 to 19+1. What does MS mean on the CZ DUTY 4.0 C MS? Manual safety. It adds a thumb lever to the firing pin block, trigger safety and trigger-bar safety that every DUTY has.
